A new look and feel is coming to this website

About music

My guitars are my best friends. I just recently customized one of them myself. I'm now up to five mostly original ideas for a new song.
Custom built guitar and pedal arrangement, MP3 sample recordings are starting to emerge--Look out!

Alrighty then, by popular demand here we go with some music links .I know this one is very raw and soulful, and nonetheless not very clean. But, hey, I was feeling particularly blue one night suddenly realizing then that I might lose someone who inspires me in so many ways. She's my friend, and that smile of hers has stolen a piece of my heart.

"To Your Smile From My Heart"

I know, if you know me, you know I can do better, but I just had to do this in a hurry or forever lose the idea. It makes no sense to me at all how the girl would chase me down the way she did and then settle for someone so much less than what she is all about. But, hey, what can I do about it? The rhythm section is fairly complete as is. I came up with the idea for it about 20 years ago and sort of evolved it. It was played on an amplified Ibanez classical nylon string guitar (pics to follow). The lead might have been three takes or so overdubbing the rhythm using the BOSS RC-50 loop station. I love that pedal!!! The lead came straight from the heart and was done on my customized shred guitar pictured in the above link.

Here is "Bouree", by J.S. Bach. I learned that tune in 8 days.... Scary! He's like a total genius. I did this on my 12 string Yamaha. It's not a final cut, but hope you like it all the same.

Here is my latest idea, which is really three ideas combined. I'm calling it: "Somewhere Way Out There". It was done using a more customized Stratocaster version of the guitar you see pictured below. I added a hipshot D tuner, graphite saddles and an Earvana nut for a cleaner tone and more sustain. My keyboard guy can tell the difference.

Three tunes, three different styles of playing and four different guitars. Where's it going? Well, I have been playing around with fusing the keyboard parts and guitar parts of Carlos Santana's "Fried Neck-bones and Some Home Fries" and a small part of "Poppy" by Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush. My version of this crazy thing is a bit harder driving but uses a clean tone with some delay and flanger effects much like that used on my last tune. Dial in D3 on the Zoom pedal and you're there. I am also playing around with "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" by the Beatles and trying to bridge in some Woodstock practice outtakes from Jimi Hendrix that includes "To Linda With Love." And, I have been playing around with Jimi's "Villanova Junction" for years. Adaptations.... that's some of what you'll hear on my albums.

Practice, practice, practice, and more time with Pro Tools. This album will happen. My standards are getting higher every day. What you've heard so far is raw, undisciplined and lacking backing tracks as well as studio time to tweak things. I'll produce nothing less than something fun to listen to.

Meet the band...

And, the band mascot...

I have us a drummer. He's of the rap, hip hop scene. This is a welcome influence.

Coming soon...

Film coverage of my toe biting turtle escaping Turtle Timeout. Yeah, that little sh*t bit the crap out of my toe. This is my way of getting back at him by publicly embarrassing him.

Occupation

Software engineering for the last 21 years

Hobbies

Yard work, playing guitar, projects around the house

Activities

Swimming, working out, walking my dog, biking, camping, canoeing, boating, SCUBA diving

Interests

Music, art, science, nature
I've four cats, the (one and only) Mander dogger, two birds, a toe biting maniac turtle and a yard full of anoles and geckos to eat as many bugs as is possible. The pool out back attracts spiders and wasps. I like to deprive the spiders of food. Yeah, I get plenty of humming birds that visit the honeysuckle and cross-vine. And, the butterflies dig my morning glories and petunias. I think I need to hook up with a pet doc, or a someone who's into forest reclamation in South America, eh? Yeah, well for now, the guitars keep me pretty busy.

Random thought for the day

Tap into the collective consciousness and make some noise

Loneliness is nothing but existence.

Will I live tomorrow, well I just can't say, but I know for goddamn sure, I don't live today - Jimi Hendrix

Any man that would beat another man for looking at his woman would beat his woman for looking at another man - Me

Let's say a prayer for Kurt Vonnegut...

If I should ever die, God forbid, let this be my epitaph:
THE ONLY PROOF HE NEEDED
FOR THE EXISTENCE OF GOD
WAS MUSIC
Right on! May you rest in peace.
